THE PICNIC PLACEMAT
From the Blue Ridge Mountains wilt lakes and hiking trail to the Coastal Tide waters
and miles of sandy beaches, you will find the 34 State Parks in North Carolina will
have and activity to fill your day or your extended vacation. The State is divided into
four regions, each unique in its landscapes, features and activities. Click on a region
described below for more detailed information.

Western There are fourteen State Parks in the Western Region. Rock climbing,
backpack camping, and lengthy hikes in the mountains are featured activities in this
region. If you enjoy river fishing, this region may just be what you were looking for.
Heartland Streams, lakes, backpacking, and rv camping highlight this region. From
mountainous terrain to man made reservoirs, you will find abundant fishing and
camping opportunities
Eastern Swamps, marshes, old growth timber and several lakes are featured in this
region. History is all around and if you enjoy a day in a different environment, this is
the region for you
Coastal. Coastal marshes, sand dunes, historical sites of the Civil War, marinas,
barrier reefs and even and island State Park makes this the perfect areas for campers
and those how enjoy less strenuous hikes.
