Nebraska has 8 State Parks and 66 State Recreation Areas.  Camping is available in
most of these locations.  Of the 8 State Parks, 3 have been rated by Reserve America
as in the top 100 family campgrounds in the U.S..  Activities abound in Nebraska parks
and recreation areas.  Emphasis is placed on lakes and reservoirs for record catch
fishing, swimming, and boating activities.  From the open prairies in the West, to the
wooded banks of the Missouri River in the Northeast, you will find well maintained
hiking trails to enjoy the buffalo herds or the beauty of the natural surroundings.
PANHANDLE - -
Rolling prairies and
ponderosa pine
forests highlight this
area.  Rich in western
history of outposts
and American Indian
lifestyles. Plenty of
camping, hiking and
fishing                           
 
SOUTHWEST - - No
State Parks in this
area but loaded with
Recreation Areas and
historical sites,
including the home of
Buffalo Bill Cody.  
Lakes and reservoirs
throughout to area.
SANDHILLS - - From
old historic infantry
posts to working
ranches to lakes and
reservoirs,  you will
find the true prairie
setting in this area.  
Also many water
activities at the lakes.
SOUTH CENTRAL - -
No State Parks in this
area but loads of
history and activities
are available mainly
along the Platte River.
Plenty of camping
sites throughout the
area.
SOUTHEAST - - This
is probably  the most
popular area with
modern parks and
camping facilities
along the Missouri,
Platte, and other
rivers as well as many
other activities.
NORTHEAST - - Old
military posts,   Lewis
And Clark route, and
recreation along the
Northern border of
the State is abundant
here.   Enjoy wildlife,
hunting, hiking and
water activities.
