List of Michigan State Parks
THE PICNIC PLACEMAT
As large as the State of Michigan is, you are still never more than a one half hour's
drive from a State Park, State Forest, or State recreation area. There are nearly one
hundred places you can go to in the State for an enjoyable day of outdoor activity.
There are over 80 State Parks and Recreation Areas that offer RV camping
throughout the State; some are open for winter camping. The State of Michigan
handles its own reservations for camping and group activities. Hiking trails,
waterfront activities, equestrian facilities, and winter sport activities are just a few of
the numerous features offered in the State Park System.

Michigan has set aside tens of
thousands of acres of forest,
beach, and meadows for people
of the State to enjoy. Primitive
camping in a forest, scenic and
historical sites with visitor
centers, recreation areas, and
fishing of a pier are some of the
many outdoor activities that the
Michigan Department of
Natural Resources provides. If
you are planning to visit Michigan
and would like to use the services
of the DNR, we strongly
recommend visiting their web site
for detailed information on each
facility in their system. We have
found that the Michigan Park
System is probably one of the
most extensive in the entire
United States.
