MARYLAND STATE PARKS
The Maryland Park System offers a diversity of natural features and activities for
anyone looking to spend a day or vacation in the great outdoors.  From the shores of
Chesapeake Bay famous for crabbing and fishing, to the mountains in the Western
part of the State with its hiking and ski trails, Maryland has covered the entire field
when it comes to outdoor activities.

CENTRAL - - There are 9 State
Parks in this region as well as
numerous Wildlife Management
Areas and a State Forest.  Close
to the population centers of
Maryland, these parks offer a
place to get away from it all.

EASTERN - - Seven State Parks
are located along the Eastern
side of the Bay.  Fishing,
crabbing, and nature studies
abound in these parks.

SOUTHERN - - Ten State Parks
and one State Forest are in this
region.  Filled with history and
surrounded with natural beauty,
these parks will have an activity
for everyone.

WESTERN - - 19 State Parks are
included in this region.  For the
outdoor enthusiast this is the
place you want to visit.  
Mountain terrain for the avid
hikers or cross country skier
and plenty of fishing and  nature
trails will keep you occupied the
entire day.
The Maryland Park System is divided into four regions, each unique in its own way.  
From fishing in the Bay or walking a secluded beach, to a day's outing close to a
metropolitan area, or hiking along the wooded trails, you will have an experience to
