List of MAINE State Parks
THE PICNIC PLACEMAT

Aroostook - - Located in the Northern most
region of the State, Aroostook has two State
Parks, on of which can only be reached by private
boat since it is located on a 10 acre island with no
commercial ferry service.

Downeast Acadia - -  With five State Parks,  this
region is a camper's paradise in the summer and
loads of ski trails in the winter.  The Downeast
Arcadia region is a year around recreation mecca

Greater Portland & Casco Bay - - From mountain
hiking trails to ocean beaches, this region is close
to the big city making it perfect for those picnic
outings

Katahdin Moosehead Penquis - - Lakes, fishing ,
hiking, and camping are the highlights of this
region located in the central part of the State.

Kennebec and Moose River Valleys- - Famous
Lake St. George is part of this region.  Boating,
camping, swimming, and day trip picnics are the
favorite activities here.

Maine Lakes and Mountains - - Five State Parks
and a dedicated camping  area makes this region
a vacation destination.

Mid-Coast Regions - - From tidal pools along the
coast to the sandy beach of a crystal clear lake,
you can enjoy many different outdoor activities in
this popular region of the Park System.

Southern Maine Coast - - There are two State
Parks in this region.  Emphasis is on the beauty of
the natural surroundings which can be enjoyed
on the several hiking trails throughout the park.
There are twenty beautiful State Parks in the Maine Park System.  You can spend an
enjoyable day along the coast investigating tidal pools or walking the beach.  Camping
in the woods or along the shores of a cool lake is an activity enjoyed by many.  There
are plenty of activities such as swimming, hiking, fishing, cross country skiing, boating,
and picnics just to mention a few.  The Main State Parks will be a destination you will
remember for years to come.
