From the Rocky Mountains to the Eastern Plains, The Colorado State Parks System has
something to offer everyone. There are over 40 well maintained parks with facilities for
camping, boating, fishing, hiking, skiing, swimming or just relaxing. The beauty of natural
surroundings and the close proximity to historical landmarks, makes the Colorado State
Parks a vacation destination.
The Colorado State Park System is divided into three regions. Each region is uniquely
different and offers its own special scenery, activities, and facilities. Click on a Region for
a complete listing of the State Parks in that area and the services available.
HIGH PLAINS
There are 14 State Parks in the High Plains region. These parks cover the North Central
and East Central part of the State. There are ample camping facilities, hiking, fishing,
boating, and other outdoor activities available in these parks.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN
The Rocky Mountain region consists of 18 State Parks. Many are available for winter
camping on a first come, first served basis since no reservations are taken after
September 30. During the summer months there are activities galore high in the wooded
Rocky Mountains.
SOUTHEAST
The West lives again in the Southeast region of the Colorado State Park System. Over
11 Parks with plenty of camping sites located within a short drive from many western
historical landmarks. If your enjoy activities on the lake such as boating, swimming,
fishing, etc., the Southeast region will have what you are looking for.
